The nation’s foreclosure activity recovered some of its 10 percent drop off in January, ending February up 6 percent to 290,631 U.S. properties with foreclosure filings – a 30 percent increase over February 2008, and the third highest monthly foreclosure total reported since RealtyTrac began publishing the U.S. Foreclosure Market Report in January 2005.

The top 10 states for total properties with foreclosure filings in February were: California (80,775), Florida (46,391), Arizona Foreclosures (18,119), Nevada (15,783), Illinois (14,218), Michigan (12,564), Ohio (11,231), Texas (10,527), Georgia (10,185) and Virginia (4,823).
